Wānanga and training to enhance and support whānau and our frontline workforce is an important aspect of Waka Hourua programme for 2018. Building on Te Ihi Ora and Tiakina Te Ahuru Mowai provided in 2017 will be a focus for this period. In addition to extending from Manaaki Tangata component of enhancing the Māori NGO sector to provide early intervention to people in mental distress, with possible suicide risks during their daily work.
These training programs will provide in-depth Māori perspectives, tikanga and mātauranga Māori, kuia and Kaumātua kōrero, and mental health experience that brings a depth of knowledge, learning and strategies from Te Ao Māori.
